I’m a native-born American English speaker and professional English instructor here in Paris. I have over three years’ full-time experience as a private ESL teacher here in Paris and Japan; I've lived in Kobe and Osaka areas, teaching for large eikaiwa such as ECC as well as a small, intensive private English school in Kobe. I have taught all levels of Japanese students and I am very sensitive to their language and cultural needs.


I am currently finishing a Master’s in Communication and Information Sciences from Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam and I hold a Bachelor’s in English Language and Literature from the University of Michigan. English is my mother tongue, but I speak intermediate Japanese and Spanish as well as conversational French and basic Dutch.

As a speaker and student of multiple languages, I am extremely passionate about helping people learn and express themselves confidently. I’ve worked with all ages and language levels (A1-C1) and nothing is more rewarding than seeing a student improve and grow with another language.

I offer fun, engaging individually-tailored private lessons to help you reach your goals and build confidence in English. After our first meeting, I will design a course to meet your needs, whether they be giving a presentation in English, studying for proficiency tests (TOEFL/TOEIC), writing papers and dissertations. If you’re looking to simply expand your conversation and vocabulary skills, I also offer conversation and culture lessons at a special rate (ask me for details!).


My lessons generally take place at a café around Château d'Eau/Republique. I am available immediately for lessons during the evenings and weekends. However, due to my schedule and demand for lessons, I can only take a three more students at this time. About me: Female, 32 years old-- born and raised in northern Michigan, USA, I’ve lived around the world (London, Amsterdam, Japan, Paris, Detroit) and have traveled throughout Europe, Asia, and South America. When I’m not teaching or writing, I’m often building bikes, cycling through the city and exploring markets, cafes, and trying to find the best okonomiyaki in Paris. Aside from my love of the English language, my favorite things books, wine, film, Prince, graphic novels, learning and laughing.
