They were waiting for the doors to open for the fourth Regional Rummage.

This year, there were 41 stallholders packed into the space and, just after opening, the hall was buzzing with activity.

“We’ve made a few sales and it’s only 10.30am,” stallholder Jacinta Collyer said.

“I’d heard of the market before and on a whim I just said to my sister ‘I’m just going to buy a stall and do it’.”

While she hadn’t done anything similar, Ms Collyer was inspired to give her unloved clothes new life at the Regional Rummage.

“I don’t wear any of these clothes anymore, and I thought that I would just sell them to people who would love them more than me,” she said.

“I've spent so much money on these clothes over the years, and it’s a fun thing to do.”

Regional Rummage creator and organiser Nicole Morse said she never expected the market to become so popular.

“It’s shocking to me is the best way to describe it,” she said.

“I just didn’t think it was going to take off like it has.”

Another first-time stallholder at the rummage was Noorazarina Micha.

She was inspired to get a stall after visiting as a customer in previous years.

“I like shopping and I can come here and get some stuff that is cheaper,” she said.

“I have a lot of stuff I don’t know where to put, and so I thought ‘why not I try here?’ ”
