Malaysia’s creative talents will soon be able to access the vast Chinese market through Stylo’s “Fashion Gateway through China” programme.
To be opened on April 27, the Stylo China showroom will take up a prominent space at the Binwang 158 Cultural Creativity Park at Yiwu, Zhejiang province, China.
“It is not only a boutique for selling clothes. The five pillars of the creativity park – fashion, accessories, handicraft, technology and film – will come together in our Stylo China showroom,” said Stylo International president and chief executive officer Datuk Nancy Yeoh-Reissiger.
Yeoh-Reissiger, who is global adviser for the 32.5ha Binwang 158 Cultural Creativity Park, said the showroom would serve as the bridge between Malaysian and Asian design creators with Chinese and international buyers and investors.
As the world’s wholesale centre with 500,000 international trade buyers a year and RM142bil in sales turnover last year, Yiwu presents ample fashion trade opportunities for designers.
“As I learned over the years, designers need business but buyers and investors are not coming here – they are all in China.
“Buyers from Russia and United Arab Emirates used to go to the United States but they’ve now routed their business through China.
“We need a proper showroom to showcase what we can deliver,” she told reporters during a press conference on the Mercedes-Benz Stylo Asia Fashion Festival 2017 here yesterday.
True to the extravagant nature of Stylo, Yeoh-Reissiger said the Stylo China showroom could be the “giant digital window display” for Malaysian and Asian designers with shows like “upside down runway” or “Christmas in June”.
Zang Toi and a few other Malaysian designers will be the first fashion talents featured at the showroom.
The Mercedes-Benz Stylo Asia Fashion Festival 2017, for which Yeoh-Reissiger is the event chairman, will be held from May 2 to May 6 at KL Gateway Mall in Bangsar South.
Themed “50 Shades of Red”, the event celebrates its 10th anniversary by paying homage to classic icons of fashion, television and movies.
There will also be the Mercedes-Benz Stylo Awards Gala featuring six awards, including for Lifetime Achievement and Designer of the Year.
Mercedes-Benz sales and marketing for Malaysia vice-president Mark Raine said the automobile manufacturer was a great supporter of fashion.
“One similarity shared by the automotive and fashion industries is design. Design is the key deciding factor for any purchasing decision of a vehicle and design is what makes fashion so exciting, passionate and wonderful,” he said.Read more at:http://www.marieaustralia.com/cheap-formal-dresses | www.marieaustralia.com/sexy-formal-dresses
